Bay Area Memorial for Cindy Cutts, Cupcakes & Muffintops Organizer

26 Mar

Please join us this Saturday, March 31st, in gathering to remember Cindy Cutts, who passed away suddenly on March 5th. Cindy was with Big Moves and emFATic DANCE for many years as a gorgeous dancer, skilled graphic designer, and multi-talented production genius. She was also a founding organizer of the Cupcakes & Muffintops fundraiser, and the bake sale (Cupcakes) element was her excellent idea. Our hearts are with her family and her husband Matt, who wrote a beautiful tribute to her here: https://www.mattcutts.com/blog/

This Saturday we’ll gather and hug each other a lot, and just be together. There will be time for people to share. In honor of Cindy, we’ll have a crafting area with memory books for her husband Matt and her family, and a donation-based bake sale benefitting the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, where she was a dedicated volunteer. Full event information is below.

We really want to fill the hall with people who were touched by her and her work in any way so that we can honor all that she gave to our communities together.  You didn’t have to have known Cindy well to be feeling her loss now, and even though she could hang back and be a quieter presence at large events, if you have enjoyed a Big Moves show or loved shopping at Cupcakes & Muffintops, you appreciated something Cindy helped create. We would love to see you on Saturday to help us honor her.

❤️

11:30am-1:00pm: Community time: crafting, visiting, bake sale, remembering together

Facebook event is here.

Cindy enjoyed both high glamour and the ease of simple, everyday comfort-clothes. We invite you to wear anything along that spectrum that you feel is your best tribute to Cindy. She would want you to be comfortable and happy.

Cindy’s last email to us was titled “I miss false eyelashes,” a callback to her time dancing with Big Moves (Cindy had moved out of the area a few years ago). Although Cindy almost never wanted the spotlight, we thought she was glorious in it. So if you feel moved, we ask that you wear a nice big pair of false eyelashes for Cindy as we gather to remember her. We know we’ll probably cry them off, but we’ll give it a try. We’ll also have extra eyelashes at the door (and a volunteer to help the willing but uninitiated apply them), for those who find themselves without a set.

If you are interested in bringing baked goods for the bake sale , please contact Matilda at matilda@bigmoves.org

Please pass along this memorial information where appropriate.

Until next year!
